Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared procedure to non-invasively lift the eyebrow, neck and under-chin.

It gradually lifts and sculpts the skin from the inside out without surgery or downtime, and is tried and tested for use in the upper and lower face, neck and décolletage.

What Is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to depths of 1.5-4.5 mm to lift and tighten loose skin over time, without any downtime. It is scientifically proven to stimulate new collagen and elastin which can reverse the signs of aging. Ultherapy treats the upper and lower face, neck and décolletage.

How Ultherapy Works

Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound energy to the same skin depth targeted by surgeons during cosmetic surgery. Ultherapy does not disrupt the surface of the skin or the surrounding tissue.

This heat energy initiates the body's natural response to stimulate growth of fresh, new collagen and elastin.

Some patients will see an initial lift after their treatment, but the real results appear over 2-3 months as new collagen builds, gradually lifting skin on the upper and lower face, neck and décolletage.

Unlike lasers, radio frequency and other technologies, Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver energy at deeper layers of skin. Ultherapy uniquely allows the practitioners to see and target where they need to treat. Ultherapy is tailored to your skin's own requirements.

How Is Ultherapy Different From Other Cosmetic Procedures?

Ultherapy is the only non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses focused ultrasound to stimulate the growth of new collagen deep within the skin. The production of new collagen occurs over time, so results can become more apparent over three to six months. It also is the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective. Ultherapy is different from laser therapy as Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production in the skin's foundation, resulting in a clinically significant life of tissue over 2-3 months and reviewed at 6 months. Lasers rely on light energy. which typically only treat superficial skin around 1mm in depth and are not FDA cleared or CE mark approved to lift skin.

Lasers also work from the surface of the skin, most often resulting in downtime.

Ultherapy's ultrasound energy bypasses the surface of the skin going to depth between 1.5mm and 4.5 mm, which means no obvious down time.

Does It Hurt?

A recent software upgrade called "Ultherapy Amplify" now affords a more comfortable procedure. While comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, most patients now report that the procedure is quite tolerable. If and when any discomfort does occur, it happens while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This sensation is temporary and is a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. We take measures to make the experience as pleasant as possible and patients tell us they leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.

Your practitioner will advise you on specific oral analgesia to take with food before you come to your appointment.

How Long Does It Last?

Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh young collagen after a year's time following the procedure, but skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.

Are There Any Side Effects?

There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment, and a small percentage of patients may have slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

The skin may appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within the first few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other less common post-procedure effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas.

Is Ultherapy Safe?

The procedure has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and over 100,000 treatments have been performed safely worldwide. In addition, ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.

Since launching 7 years ago Ultherapy has grown into a global leader in non-invasive aesthetic applications.

How Many Treatments Does It Take?

The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment depending on how much laxity they have and their body's own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process. Most patients need one treatment, However if a client has excessive laxity loss we may recommend retreating at 6 months.

What Are Collagen And Elastin?

These are both important building blocks within our skin. Collagen is an important protein that is abundant in our skin and it is important in providing strength and stability. It is produced by special cells called fibroblasts but over time our skin loses some of its collagen, contributing to skin laxity and sagging. Elastin is a highly elastic protein in skin and allows many tissue in the body to resume their shape after stretching or contracting. Elastin helps the skin return to normal after it has been pocked or pinched.
