Genuine Derma Rollering/ Skin Needling are a range of innovation treatments offered by Innocent Aesthetics that provides similar results to Fraxel laser resurfacing and/or chemical peels but at a fraction of the cost and with minimal downtime.

The hand held derma roller creates a multitude of tiny puncture wounds which induces the release of growth factors. As a response platelets are released. These, in turn, produce a series of growth factors that promote the body’s own production of natural collagen and elastin which stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin for smoother, brighter, healthier and younger looking skin.

In conjunction with the use of our prescriptive Obagi Tretionin cream we can enhance your skin by allowing the cream to penetrate deep down into the dermal layers to encourage dermal renewal. Creating controlled dermal damage without the removal of the skins epidermal layer unlike other resurfacing techniques means we can reduce the down time and increase the rapid healing response meaning you can return to your daily activities within 24 hours.

Genuine Derma rollers are available for home use however it must be noted that the size of the needles are smaller. A device can be purchased with a needle size of 0.25 mm – 0.3 mm to reach the epidermal-dermal junction and enhance the penetration of Obagi Tretionin and Vitamin C.

Medical genuine derma roller procedures performed by our medical staff using a needle size of 1.0 mm – 2.0 mm to reach the intermediate reticular dermis.


Daily home use

The genuine derma roller home use should only be used twice a week to allow the skin to fully heal and to allow maximum penetration of your Obagi skin care. With practise the skins natural healing time will be stimulated and eventually mulitple rollering will be obtainable.


Pre-Treatment Management

After a skin assessment has been conducted by one of our aesthetic nurses the use of treatments and products both pre and post treatment will enhance your results.

We would recommend the following pre-treatments options:

Microdermabrasion
Peels
Laser
Obagi Nu-Derm products

We would recommend the use of Obagi Tretionin or Vitamic C cream with the home use genuine derma roller for 1-2 weeks before your medical derma roller session. The rationale given for this pre-treatment method is to enable the stimulation of the collagen and elastin thus enhancing the skin repair process.






Genuine Derma Roller Procedure within clinic

Following the application of topical anaesthetic to numb the skin your medical derma roller session in combination with Tretionin 0.05% generally takes 30-40 minutes. The skin in the area will turn red and may bleed. The redness may take 12-24 hours to subside. Within hours your skin will begin to regenerate and self heal. By opening up the skin with the continual puncture of fine needles it allows the penetration of the topical products, increasing its efficacy and creates mini perforations that stimulate the skins healing mechanisms.


Results

Within our clinic we have experienced many positive results which vary between clients. Some clients experience vast improvement in scars reduction and in general have a reduced appearance in wrinkles. Tone and texture is re-established resulting in a fresh toned appearance.
